A historic first: Daniil Kireev is the first Belgian Wushu athlete to be selected for the World Games
A historic moment for Belgian sport: Daniil Kireev, a specialist in Wushu Sanda will represent Belgium at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.
At just 26 years of age, Daniil Kireev has established himself as an iconic figure in national Wushu. Practising Sanda since the age of 12, he has dominated the Belgian scene, winning fourteen consecutive Belgian championship titles between 2010 and 2023.
His international career is also remarkable, with his first participation in the Wushu World Championships in Shanghai in 2019 and a strong showing at the European Championships in Burgas in 2022.
A member of the Shaolin Sanda Belgium club, Daniil competes in the +85 kg category and embodies the excellence and perseverance of an entire sporting movement in Belgium.
'Participating in the World Games and joining Team Belgium is the culmination of years of hard work and passion. It is a tremendous honour to represent Belgium on such a prestigious international stage,' says Daniil Kireev.
His historic qualification is a source of great pride for the Belgian Wushu community and promises to inspire new generations of athletes.
